Drive-In Rack in Sand Springs, OK
Drive-in rack in Sand Springs can recover storage floor area where adding another aisle would consume space needed for pallets. It is one of the densest storage formats because lift trucks enter the lanes themselves. Many pallets of a few SKUs are a stronger match than a wide assortment with one pallet per product.
The building envelope matters as much as the desired position count. Start with usable height, column locations and a loaded truck turning into the proposed lane. An arrangement that looks compact on paper can be awkward if the approach leaves drivers correcting their position repeatedly.
Our team is a division of Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co., supplying and installing since 1997. For an operating warehouse, the discussion includes load support, access and a workable installation sequence, not simply how many frames fit along a wall.
Fitting drive-in rack to an existing building
Measure usable clear height where the rack will stand, including overhead obstructions that reduce the working envelope. Match beamless lane openings and rail elevations to loaded pallet height and truck lift capability. Do not assume neighboring bays offer identical storage clearance.
Truck width, mast height and turning clearance decide lane dimensions. Check the entry turn with the intended load and allow for guide rails, column guards and rail-end protection. Those protective components belong in the original clearance calculation, not in an allowance made after equipment arrives.
Rails need appropriate bearing beneath the pallet, and guides must suit the truck and pallet path. Inspect underside construction, pallet condition and load overhang. A change in pallet style can alter support requirements even when the outside dimensions look much the same.
Keep installation staging clear of active manufacturing routes. In a largely non-air-conditioned warehouse, hot summer conditions affect work sequencing and material handling. Leave room to adjust deliveries when severe spring weather or winter ice interferes with access.
Where drive-in pallet rack makes sense
Choose deep lanes for repeat stock that can be assigned in substantial quantities. Decide how many products and lots need separate lanes before choosing depth. Empty positions trapped behind small stock balances are not useful capacity, even if they appear in the total position count.
Cooler and freezer cube is valuable, so reducing aisle space can be particularly helpful there. Review the storage temperature, pallet condition and truck suitability alongside capacity. More positions only help if operators can place and retrieve loads without compromising product handling.
Selective storage is preferable when every pallet must be reachable independently. Pushback deserves a comparison when you want several pallets deep while keeping trucks in the aisle. Either may suit changing SKU mixes better than committing every reserve location to a deep lane.

Operations We Rack Around Here
Older 18–24 ft clear manufacturing and warehouse buildings near the Sheffield Steel area and Adams Road industrial corridor call for careful drive-in rack vertical spacing. Connections to US-412 / SH-97 also make unloading and delivery staging part of the installation conversation, particularly where yard space must remain in use.
Inside drive-in rack lanes
Continuous rails run along the drive-in pallet rack lane sides and carry each pallet. The forklift travels inside the structure to set loads onto those rails, so the operating clearance must be checked throughout the travel path.
Single-face storage
One open end creates a LIFO sequence: pallets loaded last come out first. Plan product and lot assignments around that restriction rather than expecting direct access to rear loads.
Through-lane movement
Drive-thru racking uses both ends and can provide FIFO with opposite loading and retrieval faces. It needs circulation space beyond both ends of the storage block.
Depth follows inventory
Select depth from repeat pallet quantities and replenishment habits. Several shorter lanes can be more useful than fewer deep lanes when stock is divided among separate products.
Controlled entry
Set guide dimensions for the actual truck and confirm protection at exposed columns and rail ends. Drivers still need a clear approach and consistent pallet placement inside the lane.
