Cantilever Rack in Broken Arrow, OK

Cantilever rack in Broken Arrow should be selected around the bundles moving through production, not just the available wall length. Open arms attached to upright columns remove the front obstruction, giving operators access to long material without maneuvering between front posts.

For metal fabrication, the key questions are often which lengths arrive together and which sizes are picked separately. Pipe, tube and bar can share a storage area without sharing one support pattern. Lumber, sheet goods and furniture bring different contact and handling needs to the same basic structure.

As a division of Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co., we have supplied and installed storage equipment since 1997. We connect the inventory review to a practical installation plan, including where material handling can continue while rows are assembled.

Four decisions behind cantilever rack sizing

A useful specification describes the complete row and its loading pattern. Keep the maximum bundle measurements beside the drawing so changes in arm level or support spacing can be checked against the original assumptions.

    1

    Depth before reach

Measure the actual depth of each stored bundle before choosing arm length. Material should sit within the supported reach, with capacity selected for its weight across the arms it actually engages.

    2

    Spacing against deflection

Begin with supporting arms roughly half the load length apart and equal overhang at the ends. Flexible stock may need closer columns; check sag rather than treating that starting guide as a universal rule.

    3

    Retention by load shape

Use straight arms for stable flat packages where appropriate. Inclined arms with lips help keep round stock from rolling forward, alongside suitable bundling and handling practices.

    4

    Whole-row capacity

Column strength, base configuration and anchored connections must match the planned arm loads. Confirm a suitable slab and the specified anchors before the row enters service.

Make the storage face work with production

A single-sided cantilever rack run can serve a perimeter stock area, while a double-sided run offers access from two working aisles. Neither arrangement should push staging into the truck route. Leave a defined place for partly used bundles so returning material does not become a floor-storage habit.

A side-loader can be worth considering for long stock moving through narrow travel routes. With a conventional forklift, check the truck carrying the longest bundle, not merely the unloaded turning radius. Include intersections, door approaches and the space needed to align a load with its arms.

Indoor cantilever racking needs lifting clearance and room to retrieve upper levels. Outdoor cantilever rack storage requires an exposure-appropriate finish and a supporting surface suited to anchoring. Review water exposure and material protection separately from the rack finish; coated steel does not keep a bundle dry.

In hot, mostly non-air-conditioned buildings, installation staging should account for crew breaks and clear receiving space. Severe spring weather and winter ice can shift delivery or assembly plans, so identify a holding area before the installation date is fixed.

Where a cantilever storage rack earns its space

Choose cantilever rack when long or bulky stock needs support without a front beam-and-post opening limiting access. Separating bundles by arm level can reduce the amount of material moved to reach a specific size, provided the layout follows the actual picking sequence.

Selective pallet rack is usually the more direct choice for standard pallet loads. Cantilever rack addresses a different problem: supporting material that overhangs ordinary pallet positions or is handled as long bundles. If both are needed, give each system its own handling envelope instead of assuming equal aisle requirements.

    Operations We Rack Around Here

Manufacturing space in the Broken Arrow Industrial District and the Kenosha industrial area may need long-stock storage beside active production lanes. In newer tilt-wall buildings, design the row around truck access and useful lifting clearance rather than filling the available height automatically.
